Participants develop horsemanship skills in a safe, educational, and fun atmosphere facilitated by certified instructors and trained volunteer teaching assistants. Students learn leadership, communication, mutual respect, and trust with their equine partner and build self-awareness and confidence. In specific classes two students working with one horse emphasizes team work with peers and problem solving.
They will develop unique bonds with their equine partners and learn how to “listen to” horses, whether riding or developing horsemanship skills on the ground. Our lesson plans include aspects of care, grooming, riding and fun activities to realize individual goals and full potential. Classes focus on the positive to boost self-confidence and comfort with many activities based upon skill levels.
Participants learn equine behavior, horse terminology, and build a connected relationship with their horse.
The Horse Play Program focuses on the positive to boost self-confidence and comfort related to all equine activities to gain horse knowledge and develop relationships their peers as well as staff members. Our participants come away with a keen understanding of horse terminology, equine behavior and riding skills while having fun in a safe and encouraging atmosphere.

HORSEMANSHIP LESSONS
Classes focus on the positive to boost self-confidence and comfort with many activities based upon skill levels. Participants will learn equine behavior, horse terminology, build a connected relationship with their horse and develop riding skills in a fun, safe and encouraging atmosphere.
Lesson Plans Include:
- Safe, effective catch and haltering, leading and tying practices
- Appropriate grooming techniques and proper saddling
- Learn basic horse anatomy, definitions and use of equipment
- Students will work on developing a balanced seat
- Participants may choose English or Western riding disciplines
- Fun, interesting and educational projects
